Hublot Gala Dinner 2014 - for the Children of Tohoku

Sep 12, 2014,20:53 PM

I had been told that this would be the party hosted by Hublot about the important 150th Anniversary of the official diplomatic relationships between Switzerland and Japan.  I even bought a red tie to match the purpose smile

But having attended, I felt Mr. Biver's as well as Hublot's LOVE for the people and especially the children who suffered needlessly and are still struggling to get back on their feet.

The party let even us, Japanese, remember the "event" and the "people" and reminded that there are still countless people who died or are still missing, and those who suffered and are still struggling.

Here is my THANK YOU report of the party.

=====================================================================

Venue - Park Hyatt Hotel, Grand Ball Room

Reception Desk.

Reception area before the dinner.

As always, Mr. Biver welcomes the guests at the reception area, together with Ms. Sakai, who is in charge of the Asia market.

Dinner table!

Looking at the stage from the back.

Something interesting was next to our table....

On the other side was Hublot Aero Bang All White, Japan LE

Inside the menu.

Now the party begins...

At first was the performance by Sishu, a well known calligrapher (google her smile who is "writing" something on the white paper.  Still we can't see anything....

And she went back of the paper and the color came out.....

Here it is, "?" - Chikara, meaning "power", with motif of something like dragon?

The image above is printed on the back of the Special Edition of 15.

This is the Charity Auction piece which was held later... No. 00/15.

Do you know what this pine tree represents?  There was the line of pine trees along the coast to protect against the wind and waves, etc.  They all fought but lost except for this one - this one stood still after the disaster, alone.  This one is called "Miracle Lone Pine Tree", now treated well to stand for the longer time..... as a symbol of the restoration effort and spirit of the area.

Message from Mr. Biver, the original message is here:

And now, the speach time for Mr. Biver...

Do you remember this message from him, on 3/11/2014?
hublot.watchprosite.com

Do you remember 9/11.2001?  I do.  I was there.  Do you remember 3/11/2011?  I do.  I was here again.  Now reading his message back then, I really am grateful for his message to the Japanese people.  Hublot also organized charity activity.

He was crying having looked at the image of the "Miracle Lone Pine Tree" as well as his own message on the day the hell broke loose - he thought of the people and children who lost lives instantly without much notice, and those who are still suffering.  He decided to give more to the charity for the children of the area, as he believes the children IS the future.

After he regained usual himself, he talked about how similar Swiss and Japan is including but not limited to the National Flag color, and talked a lot about "love", honesty, reliability, politeness, etc. among other things.

He then welcomed the wonderful artist who cooperated in this project.

She began talking how she came up with the image:
"It was a horrible disaster where more than 18,000 people died or are still missing.  The Lone Pine Tree represents something people need there, people of Japan need.  The god of water is sometimes depicted as dragon.  I don't know how dragon should look like, but I double motifed the dragon as the pine tree and the one who hold the blue ball, the Japan color ball.  I really hope this gives "power" to the people of the area and the people of Japan."

Very well made and I was surprised to see her there because she is now a very, very well known Japanese Calligrapher who wrote a lot of TV drama and movie titles, Ads, and represents Japan for many competitions, including at the Louvre.  Very lovely lady and talented.

Oops, we must not forget the "purpose" of the event - short, but fun speech by the President of the Swiss Wine Exporting Association, who is the long time friends of Mr. Biver's.

Now enjoy the dinner smile

.... and Music....

Mr. Biver's own cheese, as always.  Yummy!

Dessert has "H" log chocolate.

The watches outside the Ball Room.....

The auction:
It was won by the couple for JPY3,550,000., including Sishu's product which is framed in the solid gold frame!

The Auctioneer.

Kagawa (Man-U, and to move to Dortmund soon?) sent video message for the auction.

This is how the restoration effort going on there.  Still needs a lot more time and money.

The ground where the Children spends time playing - school yards are still occupied by the temporary houses for the refugees.

The money, combined with the donation from Hublot, is to be used to make this ground for more people with water supply system.

The person who is organizing this effort - Mr. Hisashi Kato, former All Japan Soccer Head Coach.  He has been involved in many restoration effort projects.  He focuses on kids who needs place to stretch their legs.  More playgrounds for kids in Fukushima and other Tohoku area!

Grateful for this event and Mr. Biver's love for Japan and the disaster area, children.

Mr. Biver gave him the a bit too big watch (kidding, it's a clock!), and....

The sample of the turf grass which they will grow on the ground....

A very, very impressive and heart-moving event, to say the least.

Thank you, Hublot, Hublot Japan, and Mr. Biver.

I hope you like what Hublot does here....

Best,
Ken
