A perpetual for older eyes šŸ¤£

It came down to a choice between this and the 40mm DB25 perpetual. I love both, but even I couldnā€™t justify adding both to my collection. In the end I gave up the moonphase for having all the indicators in windows and highly legible.

The sizing and balance of the indicator windows is perfect for me and the engineering in the instantaneous jump of all windows at midnight is a sight to be seen - or not if you blink! The lack of corrector pushers in the case adds to the finesse of the piece, with everything apart from the leap year indicator adjusted through the crown. The movement is the usual FPJ spectacle in gold with an impressive 22 carat rotor. I love the choice of case sizes - I went for the 40mm - and that both have the same dial size (just different bezel sizes).

I have to say that I still have a soft spot for the DB25 and could see others making a different choice - just a matter of personal preference.

That fp is my favorite non-moonphase PC. Looks great.

Very tough choice.

That DB is striking. But the FPJ QP is amongst the most impressive around.

I agree on both counts.

The DB is one of the most beautiful watches Iā€™ve ever seen. At 40mm itā€™s perfect - always thought the 44mm was too big for the dial design. The day and month windows look a little on the small side to my eyes - but the date dial was the dealbreaker for me...

I love FPJ.

This one is so beautiful. I had a chance to try it on. Itā€™s so amazing. So innovative with the way to set time and date without pushers.

Amazing choices, but the point about the flash calendar canā€™t be emphasized enough.

Not many manufacturers make them. Great pick in the end

Both are fabulous

But I strongly prefer DB as I find it a lot more special. BTW, I am a happy owner of DB 15 perpetual and wouldn't not trade it for any of these two šŸ˜„. Anyway, thus is just me. Congrats on a great new watch!

The DB is to my eye has more of the ā€œwowā€ factor.

I can quite understand your love for the DB15 perpetual. I have the DB25 Starry Varius GMT in my collection and truly appreciate the renaissance man qualities of Denis Flageollet. The practicalities of the FPJ design won me over in this instance but I sti...

Great choice. Its a very balanced piece

Interesting dial but still balanced enough for daily wear. As you said the design finesses in the movement are very well thought through. A keeper for the long run šŸ‘Œā¤ļø

Thanks Christian.

Definitely a daily wear contender and an absolute keeper. šŸ˜Š

The FPJ would be my choice as well due to legibility and confort.

The DB is just not my tasteā€¦ Now if only FPJ would add a seconds hand, it would be perfection! Congrats, enjoy.šŸ„‚

Thatā€™s the beauty of this hobby -

The subjectivity!! I like the absence of the seconds hand in this instance and the lack of visible motion and the quiet dial. Having said that I can also appreciate a running seconds hand - or 2 - or 3 šŸ¤£šŸ¤£ ...

Easy on the eyes!

In my opinion, you made the right choice. I too prefer the FPJ. The dial is balanced and as you said, more legible. The instantaneous jump is a feat to behold and setting that QP is so easy. Iā€™m surprised that FPJ doesnā€™t charge more for the QP. Itā€™s a te...

Both beautiful and amazing watches.

I must admit my personal favorite is the DB but thatā€™s purely based on the looks . Canā€™t go wrong with either imho
