Compared to Banksy...

Dec 09, 2014,09:06 AM

Compared to Banksy, Mr. Brainwash feels so much as a for-profit and publicity artist.  Taking on a lot of commercial projects for watch companies and car companies.

Give me Banksy.  An unknown public artist who creates his work for the public.  For public consumption.  And Banksy's art is especially meaningful with political undertones or news/current events undertones.

As for the watch...  it's a very nice watch.  Thanks for sharing Michael.  Would you want the "Mr Brainwash" treatment on one of your Royal Oak Offshores?

Thanks to the incredible staff at the Hublot boutique at Bal Harbour, headed by Oren Agai and Barbara Barnes, I was given a few minutes to snap some live photos of the Mr. Brainwash Big Bang Unico one of a kind watch. Security was waiting to transfer the ...

That was my reaction to your question about Mr. Brainwash painting one of my APs. In fact, if Mr. Brainwash tried to even get near one of my APs, he would then meet a serious Mr. MichaelC ;-) I only just learned about this artist and collaboration, but ca...

Mercedes GLA By Mr. Brainwash and Bullet-Holed Maybach by Julian Schnabel

 By: patrick_y : December 9th, 2014-14:45
Here's a Mercedes-Benz vehicle painted by Mr. Brainwash at the LA AUTO SHOW 2014. Anybody want a car that matches their watch? Remember the Julian Schnabel Maybach car? The one with all of the past girlfriends written all over it? Which one would you take...

Very colorful watch :) Am I correct in assuming that is paint on the strap and watch case? Cheers, Anthony

My pleasure Anthony. Your assumptions are correct.

All of the paint is directly atop the watch and strap. Don't think this one will be a very good option as a daily wearer ;-)

I wonder what happens to the paint on the chrono pushers

 By: AnthonyTsai : December 9th, 2014-12:25
Won't that paint eventually get sucked into the movement when the owner pushes the chrono buttons? - AT

I'm sure this would be an issue.

I understand that the watch will be auctioned off. Perhaps it will find its way to a display case and not be worn. Even aside from the pushers, the paint is rather thick in areas and as you wear the watch and the strap moves, etc., I could see some issues...

I would certainly wear it! I wonder if the chronos work? Thanks for sharing, I hope it was a good event. Cheers Andrew

My pleasure Andrew. Honestly, for you to wear it...

I think Brainwash would need to add some more orange! I think the chrono function does work, but as Anthony posted above, there would obviously be concerns about the paint scraping off, getting stuck inside, etc. I did not attend the event that night as I...

Pretty sad effort of splashing paint on a good watch. When will watch companies decide that they will not resort to such gimmicks and just concentrate on making good watches and selling them on horological merit? Harrison, Breguet, Antoine le Coultre, and...
