Guys, we know that Hublot is probably the ONLY watch brand where you can exchange e-mails/chat directly with the man behind Hublot's super success, JC Biver almost anytime. I do that 'quite often'. Today I asked him on his views/attitude on his watches as you can read as follow:
Mr Biver, I see you only wear 1 watch, and yes, it's one of my firm favorites besides Ferrari Bang magic gold. So handsome and steampunk looking. My question, do you care about whether your watch is certain seconds fast/slow per day, or whether it has dust/blemish under the crystal (let's suppose it has been serviced), or it has scratches/ding/etc on its case or blemish on the dial/mov't though it doesn't affect the performance of the watch...you know, all those little things that most watch collectors really waste their time thinking It's not a serious question but I just would like to know your thoughts. Maybe I should bring this to the forum? it should be interesting. Thank you.
Rgds, Rei Mahdi
And, just merely 5 min later came his reply:
Thank you for your interesting question. I own a significant collection of important classic watches, mostly from Patek, but also AP, Vacheron and others. I own also an important collection of modern watches today mostly Hublot but also Patek, IWC, Zenith Rolex.
Maybe that's why I honestly don't care at all, but not at all about accuracy. On the contrary I hate accuracy and if needed I have my IPhone.
For my classic watches I care for every scratch, but for my modern watches not at all.
Please note that I am conscious of not being like everybody and that my attitude versus my collection is probably quite unique
