Too good to be true?
When released in 2019, the Gravity Equal Force line started at CHF 16 900. Very, very competitive for an original movement with the original level of finishing. Even with the simplified bridges, the current starting price of CHF 20 000 is very competitive in today's landscape.
When we look at Armin Strom's new releases (e.g. the One Week), it's clear management is course correcting the pricing strategy. The finishing per dollar is not where it was back in 2013. I've commented on that a few times. Overall, the designs have improved massively over the last decade. I'll accept worse finishing for a more pleasing dial, when the level of finishing is still above my expectations.
Nobody will appreciate Armin Strom, if they underprice their product and are not motivated to invest in the future of the company.
