My honey moon and Dornbluth...

Jun 01, 2008,15:44 PM

When I met Mr. Dornbluth in Basel, this year, I was very happy to hear that my cal. 04.0 watch should be ready about a month earlier that he predicted at the beginning of the manufacture, in May instead of June. So, as I was planning to get married on 10th of May, I thought why not combine my honey moon with a trip to Kalbe (approx.  1800 km). And I am fortunate enough that my wife understand my passion!

Anyway, we left Bucharest on 22nd of May and on the 23rd  we arrived in Praha where we stayed for two days visiting the beautiful old town. There  I discovered this incredible astronomical watch…

...as I understand it is a famous watch, an icon for the city of Praha.

On 25th we hit the road an I finally arrived in Kalbe, the final destination! It’s a very beautiful and quiet town…

…and pretty old

Of course the Dornbluth Uhren Shop…

…it was closed because it was on a Sunday.

In the evening Mr. and Mrs. Dornbluth invited us to a very nice restaurant where I enjoyed every second the hospitality and the kindness of those wonderful people.

Next day it was the peak of my trip, visiting the Dornbluth working place and receiving my watch…the best day of my life! It was like Christmas, Easter and my birthday in one day…after almost 8 months of waiting!

…I will let the pictures talk

The master work bench...

And of course the watch…

…and the picture after receiving it…

Some more photos taken at home...sorry for the quality...

Hope you have enjoyed my little story...

  Cheers, Staiku

Dornblueth makes some terrific watches. I have a 99.1, which I absolutely love. Your limited edition 4.0 is beautiful, and I am still kicking myself for not jumping on that one. Godspeed, Scott D

You're not the only one kicking himself, Scott, for not . . .

I am envious, Razvan. It appears you had an amazing chance to interact with the Dornblüths, their team and their [new] workspace. I fancy myself as somewhat of a Dornblüth aficionado, and I fantasize about making a similar visit someday. Tell us more abou...
